On September 21, Peoria Accelerated High School welcomed the United Blood Services to hold the 1 of 4 blood drives for the 2016-17 school year. It was a packed day with over 50 students signed up and ready to donate. With a blood shortage in Arizona, PA students delivered. A team of Key Club members and two additional volunteers worked efficiently to get students signed up, registered, and donating. There were no incidents as everyone was properly hydrated and well fed. Thank you to everyone who donated their blood and/or time. High school students make up the largest population of donors in the state. Keep it up; you're truly changing lives!
Save the date! The next PAHS Blood Drive will be Tuesday, December 6, 2016.
Did you know that Peoria Accelerated High School recognizes two students every week for their academic achievement and classroom contributions? We call this our Top Dog Awards and unlike the Tiny Token Raffles held Thursdays at the end of 3rd period, our winners are not randomly selected. Teachers have the opportunity to nominate students each week and two winners are recognized on the announcements on Thursdays during 2nd period. All winners receive their teacher nomination, a lunch fast pass for the following week, and a $5 Harkins gift card. We love to celebrate hard work, growth mindsets, and collaboration in our classrooms. Winners pictures are posted on social media each week, but here's a snapshot of our winners so far this block! Congrats to all of you on your hard work. Keep it up and finish strong!
