Class of 2020 Graduation: Important Dates
|
NEW FAQs ADDED FOR GRADUATES, April 21, 2020
Q. Will there be a graduation ceremony?
A. The May 28th graduation has been postponed. We are working on plans to hold virtual celebrations and also in-person gatherings at a later date when it is safe to do so. Please complete the graduation survey sent your email by Ms. Bachler to provide your input.
Q. Do I still receive my Cap & Gown or will I receive a refund?
A. We are still working on holding a grad celebration in the near future. We are hoping to see our seniors in their cap & gowns either at graduation in the traditional format or in some format we have yet to decide. As we get closer to the end of the school year, we will have more information. Meanwhile, if you would like a refund now, please reach out to Ms.Veronica at beteran@peoriabulldogs.com.
Q. Will there be prom and other senior activities?
A. Prom and senior activities, such as field trips, have been cancelled.
Q. I heard that schools have to graduate their seniors, whether we do work or not, is this true?
A. The Arizona State legislators and State Board of Education have been working very hard to ensure all potential graduates who are on track to earn their high school diploma are not penalized due to circumstances surrounding COVID-19. This means that together, we can get you to that diploma! Students must show continued progress in their Block 4 classes to remain on grad track. If you do not do work in your block 4 classes, you cannot get a grade, which means you cannot earn credit, which will negatively impact your graduation.
Q. When will I get my diploma?
A. Students usually receive their diploma during our graduation ceremony, or if you did not participate, you would be able to pick it up from the school the following day. Since our May graduation has been postponed, we are working on a way for you to receive your diploma in a celebrated way. When we have an answer, we will notify our students.
Q. If the school is closed, how do I get a transcript?
A. Our registrar is continuously working on all students' needs. If you need a copy of your transcript, please visit https://www.peoriabulldogs.com/graduates.html and fill out your request.
Q. Can seniors still contact school staff regarding college and career questions and decisions?
A. Yes! Please feel free to email Ms.Veronica at beteran@peoriabulldogs.com or you can reach her at (480)788-0820.

Q: I saw on the news that seniors who are supposed to graduate should not be affected by the COVID-19 school closures. What does this mean?
A: Arizona high school students whose classes were in progress when the mandated school closures began will not be penalized for time missed. This means that all PAHS students, whether or not they are graduating this block are required to complete their block 4 classes. We understand that online learning is not ideal for some of our students, which is why all teachers have set up Google Classroom supports to guide students through the process.
