On October 29 and 30, Kiara Scrafano, Kat Muniz, and Tabitha Hillman attended the Junior State of America Fall Congress for the state of Arizona. This was Peoria Accelerated’s first ever JSA event. At the Fall Congress, students from Yuma, Miami, Hayden, Tucson, Nogales, and the Greater Phoenix area attended the event, along with a student delegation from Albuquerque, New Mexico. Students participated in a mock Congress where student written bills were debated on both in committee and on the floor of both the House of Representatives and Senate. Peoria Accelerated’s own Kiara Scrafano was selected by her peers in her House committee as best speaker. Congratulations Kiara.

Lincoln College of Technology has interactive workshops available to interested High Schools. Presentations speak directly to senior or junior students planning for graduation this year. The purpose is to explain, remind, and reinforce what teachers, guidance counselors and parents have been stressing for years: the importance of planning for a student’s future. Workshops include, but are not limited to the following: Life After High School- This presentation highlights the challenges this year's seniors will face once they graduate. This presentation discusses economics, financial management, the changes in the work-world, the direction in which jobs are headed, and how to get the right job. The overall purpose will be to impress upon the students the "real" need to choose careers they will enjoy, the importance of finding careers with future demand and the importance of furthering their education to meet their needs. This presentation also includes a personal financial budget exercise. Jeopardy Interview Success Game This presentation provides an interactive experience involving questions related to the whole interview process. Many students are required to undergo interviews for employment, scholarships, college, etc. This is a fun yet educational experience that will help them prepare!
