Students from Peoria Accelerated's Youth Entrepreneurs program attended the AdCap 2016 SAP Innovation Series on Thursday, November 10, 2016 in Scottsdale, AZ, accompanied by their YE teacher, Samantha Pimental. The AdCap Innovation Series challenges high school students from all over the United States to solve an issue related to health and wellness on their school campuses. Students worked independently or in pairs to develop an idea, create a pitch, and then present their pitch to everyone in attendance at the conference, including investors from SAP. In all, 11 schools from around the valley participated and 39 pitches were presented. The five students representing Peoria Accelerated High School included Zion Lopez, Carlos Ramirez, Jordan Daniels, Saraie Fischer, and Marselino Soto Martinez. All students did very well and proudly represented PAHS and YE. Subsequently, two of our students, Carlos and Jordan, are now in the process of securing a $4000 grant with Fuel Up to Play 60 to bring to fruition their "Team Bulldog" pitch, which focuses on an after school intramural sports program for students. Students and teacher alike found the conference to be a great experience. Ms. Pimental is now planning on having all of her YE students participate in the online portion of the SAP Innovation Series.
